Owen graduated in 2002 with awards as the top clinical student in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthetics. He subsequently undertook postgraduate training positions in oral and maxillofacial surgery, advanced restorative dentistry, periodontology and sedation dentistry.
He has continued to pursue advanced training throughout his career, completing the year-long Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry through the Global Institute for Dental Education and Loma Linda University in California, with additional certification as an Aesthetic Master Clinician. In 2019, he was awarded the Diploma in Implant Dentistry by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh following its rigorous examination and assessment process.
Owen is passionate about continuing education and evidence-based dentistry. Alongside his clinical work, he lectures and mentors other dentists in implant dentistry and also teaches courses in dental implant surgery and restoration.
He has extensive experience caring for patients who are anxious or nervous about dental treatment and regularly provides treatment under intravenous sedation. He also performs oral surgery and dental implant procedures under general anaesthetic at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital.
Above all, Owen believes that good dental care starts with trust. He takes the time to explain treatment options clearly, answer questions and remove as much fear and uncertainty from dental treatment as possible.
Outside dentistry, Owen enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with his family. A former rugby union player, he remains a keen rugby supporter and is heavily involved in surf lifesaving. He is a volunteer patrol captain at Alexandra Headland Surf Lifesaving Club and was named Lifesaver of the Year in 2025.
